Editorial Policy

Journal of the Korean Society of Food Science and Nutrition (JKFN; J Korean Soc Food Sci Nutr) is the official journal published and distributed monthly by the Korean Society of Food Science and Nutrition (KFN). Manuscripts submitted to this journal (i.e. JKFN) must be unpublished and should not be under consideration for the publication elsewhere.

Authorship

Authorship provides credit for a researcher’s contributions to a study and carries accountability.
Authors should fulfill following criteria and contributors who do not meet all criteria for authorship should be listed in the ‘Acknowledgments’ section.
[Criteria 1] substantial contributions to at least one of the works listed below:
(1) Conceptualization of the work;
(2) Design of the work;
(3) Acquisition and analysis of data;
(4) The interpretation of data;
(5) Drafting of the manuscript;
(6) Substantial revision of the manuscript.

[Criteria 2] Approval of both the submitted version of the manuscript and the modified version of the manuscript after the peer-review processes;
[Criteria 3] Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work (i.e. ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved).

All authors should agree all of the contents including the author list. The corresponding author is responsible for (1) ensuring that all authors have agreed to all of the contents and have approved the submission of the manuscript to this journal, and (2) managing all communication of authors with the journal before/after publication. After acceptance of the manuscript for the publication in this journal, the corresponding author is responsible for the accuracy of all content in the proof, including the names of co-authors, addresses and affiliations. After publication, the corresponding author is the point of contact for queries about the published paper.
Changes in authorship (e.g. the order of the authors, the addition or deletion of authors, etc.) after the submission of the manuscript should be approved by the approval by all authors. Any changes in authorship can only be allowed before the acceptance of the publication.

Copyright

In order for KFN to publish research articles, KFN should maintain the ownerwhip and needs publishing rights. This is determined by a publishing agreement between the authors and KFN. This agreement deals with the transfer or license of the copyright to KFN and authors retain significant rights to use and share their own published articles.

Competing interests

JFKN requires authors to declare any competing financial/non-financial interests in relation to the work. Definition of the competing interests (i.e. the potential source of conflict of interests) can be defined as follows: financial and non-financial interests that could directly undermine, or be perceived to undermine the objectivity, integrity and value of a publication, through a potential influence on the judgments and actions of authors with regard to objective data presentation, analysis and interpretation. If there is no competing interest, authors should state as “The authors declare no competing interests.” in the manuscript. If any competing interests exist, the statement regarding the competing interests (e.g. The authors declare the existence of following competing interests: ~) in the manuscript during the submission.

Citation of others’ work

To reproduce any copyrighted materials published previously elsewhere (e.g. figures, tables, data, or text) in the manuscript submitted to JKFN, the corresponding author is responsible for acquiring written permission from authors of the prior work and/or publishers.

Ethics

In the case of researches involving animals and human research participants, the corresponding author must confirm that all experiments were performed in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations. The manuscript must include a statement identifying the institutional and/or licensing committee approving the experiments, including any relevant details.

Confidentiality

Editors, authors and reviewers are required to keep confidential all details of the editorial and peer review process (including the identities of reviewers) on submitted manuscripts. Reviewers must maintain confidentiality of manuscripts. Regardless of whether a submitted manuscript is published or not, correspondence with the journal, referees' reports and other confidential material must not be published, disclosed or otherwise publicised.
